Aerospace Rotational Molding Operator
Position Title: Aerospace Rotational Molding Operator

Reports to: Aerospace Production Supervisor
Position Summary
The Rotational Molding Operator works on a team assisting in the operation of rotational molding machines and production of plastic parts in a manufacturing setting, obtaining a quality product that exceeds the customer’s expectations. The employee will ensure and verify that each product meets quality standards and customer specifications. Overtime is required for this position. Pay will start at $16/hr, which increases with experience, education, and certification.
Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities
This position includes (but is not limited to) the following essential functions:
- Read, understand, and follow work orders
- Inspect, trim, repair, clean, and pack-out all products produced in rotational molding
- Be capable of producing quality parts — from trimming until the final pack-out at standard
- Perform operations under a time-sensitive process
- Set up machines to start production cycles; prepare molds by cleaning them and adding inserts and other components
- Obtain correct powder and molds per work order; fill buckets with the proper resin, dye, and/or weight to ensure quality of product
- Perform quality acceptance checks
- Program time, temperature, and rotation on machine to achieve proper molding per setup sheets
- Assure that all vent tubes and parting lines are cleaned each time on the rotational mold
- Install and/or remove pins and/or insert them into their proper place on the molds
- Properly mount molds and lined products on proper machine arm
- Receive, inspect, and return molds after work order is complete
- Maintain machine readiness with completion of daily and weekly preventative maintenance forms
- Stage and prepare production runs
- Coat rings and plates with Teflon as required
- Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
- Remove lined product from arm and trim off end caps
- Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
- Remove part from mold and, at the proper time, trim and de-flash as required
- Visually inspect each part for quality
- Reject nonconforming parts as needed and place them in the designated area
- Inspect finished parts for delamination, voids or bubbles, and contamination
- Document all molding, trim/preassembly, preventive maintenance, and safety procedures; ensure compliance
- Create a quality product that meets industry standards and customer expectations to be shipped
- Maintain time and production records
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
- Notify supervisor when problems arise
- Make optimum use of time and keep work area clean and neat
- Abide by all the policies, procedures, and guidelines of RMB, including conformance to common sense safety practices and regulations
Requirements and Qualifications
- Willingness to learn and improve through on-the-job training
- Ability to understand and follow instructions given out orally and in writing by the Production Supervisor or specified by customer expectations and requirements
- Must maintain the confidentiality of all projects, customers, and RMB
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and customer-provided specifications
- Requires use of forklifts, cranes, rotational molding machines, and other heavy machinery; also requires use of pneumatic and impact tools
- Exhibits objectivity and openness to other people’s views and contributes to building a positive team spirit
- Requires advanced writing, math, and mechanical skills
- Requires a flexible and cooperative attitude, including when asked to perform other duties or tasks that are not listed within this job description but are within the scope of this position
- Requires communication skills both written and oral in the English language
- Requires excellent safety practices, which include keeping a clean work area
- Possess interpersonal skills, which are vital to maintaining an organized warehouse
- Effectively process changes through RMB feedback and reviews
- Requires personal responsibility and accountability to meet workmanship standards with little supervision to complete assignments
Physical Requirements and Hazards
The employee will be required to:
- Stand while working with machinery
- Sit at a computer to work
- Make repetitive movements
- Operate a forklift and overhead crane
- Lift no more than 50 pounds alone and assist in team lifts of more than 50 pounds
- Fulfill the work schedule, work hours, and productivity expectations of their supervisor and RMB
- Comply with established standards, policies, and laws applicable to our business
- Possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust foc

The employee may be required to use personal protective equipment. Each employee has responsibility for the protection and proper use of company property.
