Certified Welding Capabilities Heighten Product Quality

RMB Products is certified as a compliant organization with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)–certified welders performing all welding and joining work. We also perform hot-gas plastic welding.

Welding for ASME Pressure Vessels

RMB Products meets the requirements applicable to the design, fabrication, inspection, testing and certification of ASME pressure vessels operating at either internal or external pressures exceeding 15psig. Such pressure vessels may be fired or unfired. Specific requirements apply to several classes of material used in pressure vessel construction and also to fabrication methods such as welding, forging and brazing. RMB Products holds an ASME Section VIII–Pressure Vessels certification.

The ASME Pressure Vessel and Boiler Code includes mandatory and nonmandatory addenda detailing supplementary design criteria, nondestructive examination and inspection acceptance standards. Rules stipulating the use of the U, UM and UV ASME Code Symbol Stamps are also specified. RMB Products must pass an annual test to maintain its ASME certification.

Hot-gas plastic weldingPlastic Welding

The hot-gas plastic welding technology is analogous to gas welding metals, though the specific techniques are different. A specially designed heat gun (hot air welder) produces a jet of hot air that softens both the parts to be joined and a plastic filler rod; the parts and filler rod must be of the same or a very similar plastic.

Hot-gas plastic welding is a common fabrication technique for manufacturing smaller items such as chemical tanks, water tanks (black, grey, fresh or ballast), heat exchangers and plumbing fittings.

RMB Products provides additional plastic welding techniques, including ultrasonic, friction, extrusion, sleeve, socket and butt welding.
